With 2012 on the immediate horizon, Becker’s Hospital Review presented a detailed, 3,200-word look forward at what faces hospitals in the coming year and beyond. They introduced the discussion by noting, “[We] are only in the second year of healthcare reform. Many call this time one of uncertainty, … but it also presents great opportunity for innovation, change and growth. Some concepts of healthcare reform that once seemed novel or troublesome are now beginning to mature, and the industry is becoming more sophisticated in its approach and implementation of the law. The year ahead brings a presidential election, a change in leadership for CMS, value-based purchasing and other scheduled changes.”
